Photos by my dad & me

To be honest, I didn't have a clue where to start creating blog content about our journey to Tanzania (all together we've made over 4000 photos - help!). After repeatedly scrolling through files in the end Mosquito Village seemed to be the right spot to start editing and writing about, because this was the place we started exploring the country from. You might think, because of the name, you'll get to experience tons of mosquitoes in the village. Well, I can assure you (certainly during daytime) none of that is true.

On the first day of our journey, Severine, our very kind and friendly guide/driver, dropped us in the village for a guided tour to learn a bit more about the local life and culture of the villagers. We got to see the banana plantations, local market, and enjoyed a delicious Swahili lunch in the end. As most tourists only go on safari I really liked experiencing a bit more. It's really interesting to get to know cultures which are so completely different from our own. Also the local food was simply great - we tried some of their red bananas,  which are even more delicious than the yellow ones if you ask me. It's crazy how many different kind of bananas there are I didn't knew about before! They even produce banana beer in Tanzania, which is actually quite tasty. Conclusion: all together a great experience!
