While exploring the templegrounds of Bagan (Myanmar), my boyfriend and I spent two nights at the WEStay @ Bagan Lotus Hotel. At our arrival the very friendly staff immediately made us feel comfortable. They gave us an introduction to the hotel facilities and our well-sized room while we were enjoying our tasty welcome drinks. When we entered our room, our names were spelled in rose flowers and also the rest of the room was decorated with roses - such a warm and needed welcome after a long day of traveling! The kind staff of the hotel reminded us of the overall friendliness we experienced from the side of the people off Myanmar.

Immediately after unpacking our bags we headed for some relaxation at the large picture-perfect swimmingpool, which was located right next to the fitness area. A refreshing dive into the swimming pool was just what we needed before starting to explore Bagan. The Bagan region is actually pretty large, which makes driving an e-bike a pleasant must (as driving a motorbike as a foreigner is unfortunately prohibited). The hotel staff were so kind to arrange an e-bike for us daily and also gave us the option of taking a free shuttle bus to the temple grounds (but we preferred the fun ride on the bike). I absolutely loved biking all around Bagan and exploring secret viewpoints for sunrise/sunset and the most stunning temples on our own.

What we especially liked about the hotel is the breakfast they serve. A combination of eggs of choice (finally I had the chance to eat poached eggs again - my favourite!), croissants, tasty vegetables, good coffee and fresh fruits made us totally ready for a long day of driving and exploring the beautiful Bagan area.

We would absolutely recommend WEStay @ Bagan Lotus Hotel - and ofcourse the enchanting, impressive grounds of Bagan!

Love, Anne
