GEKKO 535 Merchant street Township 4th quarter, Yangon
If you're a major sushi lover just like I am, make sure not to miss trendy GEKKO restaurant when in Yangon. The quality of both the sushi and other dishes on the menu is magnificent and you can definitely see and taste the effort that is put into preparing the food. Among our favourites were the tuna tataki, wasabi tempura prawns, crazy california roll, rainbow roll and spider roll. Also the quality of the sashimi was so good - it was like the pieces of salmon were melting on your tongue. Last but not least we were also amazed by GEKKO's unique assortiment of cocktails and whiskey, of which the sweet way to burma cocktail was my absolute favorite. I'm truly honest when stating that this was certainly one of the best sushi experiences we've ever had!

Nourish Cafe 36/38, Alan Pya Pagoda St, Yangon
Smoothie bowls are rare in Myanmar and therefore I felt like such a happy kid when my boyfriend discovered Nourish Cafe. This small lunch hotspot is located in a yoga club and is a good place to escape the crazyness and busy street vibes of Yangon. We ordered the vegetarian naked burger couscous salad with additional avocado, several small dessert bites including a yummy peanut butter cup and two smoothie bowls (the cacao and acai red berry ones). All of them were delicious so make sure not to miss this hidden gem!
