Day dreaming and brainstorming about the perfect interior, performing make-overs and creating new corners have always been among my favourite things to do in life. I can search and scroll for new ideas on in particular Pinterest for hours and hours, constantly adding new pictures to my dream house inspiration boards – I guess you can say I’m a bit addicted. So when Sofacompany asked me this spring if I was interested in making my home fashion proof with a brand new sofa from their 2019 spring collection, my immediate response was: hell yes, let’s do this!

Sofacompany was founded by the Danish Cathrine and Christian Rudolph. It was their goal to challenge the existing, quite conservative furniture industry by creating beautiful furniture of high quality and with honest low prices all year round. They did so by performing a simple and unique business concept with sales exclusively online, and by cutting away all middlemen by handling all stages of the process of creating a sofa on their own. The most important thought behind this is that everybody should be able to afford great furniture design of high quality materials, which appeals to me a lot.

Let me tell you a bit about the inspiration behind their 2019 spring collection first. The collection is meant to add a couture vibe to your interior by using materials such as corduroy and chenille, combined with deep colours and patterns. Another big inspiration was the African continent: think of tribal prints, dusty earth and warm colours.

Because I can be really picky when it comes to interior items (and clothing, and shoes, bags and so on) it turned out to be quite a task to select my favourite sofa when browsing their webshop. First, I planned a visit to the Sofacompany showroom in Amsterdam in order to get inspired and to see their newest spring collection items and fabrics in real life. This visit turned out to be super successful since I instantly fell in love with the Ellis sofa (check it out here), which is modular and therefore super diverse. The Ellis sofa originally comes in the colours Danny Amber or Agnes Brown, but like with every Sofacompany sofa there is the possibility to design your own and pick your own fabric/colours/materials. The only disadvantage of making your own design is that it takes 10-12 weeks before you'll receive your newly designed sofa at home, while the delivery of basic collection items and colours only takes 1-2 weeks. Despite this I figured the waiting time to be totally worth it, because of the unique result. Because I was eying on a dark blue sofa for quite some time I therefore decided to design my own and ordered an Ellis modular sofa part without armrests in the colour Vega Dusty Blue. And now all that was left to do was patiently waiting till it finally arrived..

Since I was super excited about seeing the final result in real life, being patient about the 10-12 weeks waiting time was a bit hard for me. When Sofacompany contacted me to make a delivery appointment I couldn't be happier. Though I was bit worried about getting the sofa upstairs, since I live on the second floor and those hours spent in the gym haven't really resulted in big arm muscles. This turned out to be no problem at all: the super friendly delivery guys delivered it upstairs in just the blink of an eye. So there it finally was, now the most fun part was about to begin: redecorating and integrating this new beauty into my interior.

The dark blue fabric of my new Ellis sofa turned out to be so beautiful in real life, and looked absolutely perfect in combination with my current interior items. It didn't take much time before I figured my new sofa deserved a special spot in my home: accompanied by my favourite marble side table, tropical strelitzia nicolai plant, moroccan inspired rug and some arty prints. I am so in love with the final result and Scandi vibe I created in my home. What do you think about it? Another big plus: the Ellis does not only look good but its super comfortable as well. I'm still the happiest girl with my unique self-designed sofa!

So in case you're looking for a great design, high quality and at the same time affordable sofa, Sofacompany is such a great brand. I would strongly recommend their design your own option because of its uniqueness. It is truly worth the wait!

Love, Anne
