Last weekend, just before almost all European countries went into lockdown, my boyfriend and I headed for beautiful Paris to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Although most sightseeing spots had already closed because of the Coronavirus threat (luckily we already visited most of them in the past), the streets were way more empty than usual and we were constantly keeping an eye on the news we've had an amazing weekend anyway in one of my all time favourite cities. The sun was shining the entire weekend, we've had some great food and ice cream and the city gave us a lot of happy spring vibes. This time we've had the pleasure to stay a few nights at the Citizen M Paris Gare the Lyon hotel - which was such a good choice. Let's tell you some more about our stay and experience.

When we first arrived at the hotel the self check-in was really easy and literally took us about two minutes, which was absolutely great since we were very tired after the long car drive from our home in the Netherlands. Our room was not that big, but had everything we needed like a big comfortable bed and relaxed rain shower. One of my favourite features of the hotel was actually the extensive breakfast buffet choice - loved it! To be honest, breakfast is almost always my favourite part of hotel stays, but the Citizen M breakfast really got it all: famous French baguettes and other types of delicious bread, freshly baked croissants and pastries, smoked salmon, all kinds of cheeses, fresh juices and fruits like blueberries and pineapple, scrambled egg and so on. All so good!

Regarding the Coronavirus threat the hotel also took a lot of special measures, like cleaning more often, make sure that guests keep their distance of each other and offering disinfecting hand gel all over the hotel so that we had the opportunity to clean our hands more often. When the French authorities decided to shut down all restaurants and cafes from 11 PM on Saturday night (which caused a bit of stress among most hotel guests) the staff was super helpful and presented us with some useful recommendations about what to do.

Anyway, we've had the best time in Paris partly thanks to the super friendly, helpful staff and comfort of Citizen M Paris Gare the Lyon. Even more fun: Citizen M has got hotels in cities all over the world so I'm sure we will visit one of them again anytime soon!

Love, Anne
